Understanding Our Mission
The Neurodiversity Network of WNY is a nonprofit organization in Western New York. Our hope is to spread awareness about the concept of Neurodiversity and to promote the inclusion and acceptance of neurological differences in WNY.
A neurodiversity perspective stresses that “everyone has a different mind, a different way of being,” and that we should not “suppress these differences but accept and support them” (Camley, 2005).
The “Neurodiversity Movement” refers to the disability rights movement aimed at the full inclusion of all neurodivergent people. This movement is led by self-advocates and allies fighting for acceptance.
